“Weight Of The World” is the new single by eclectic
Los Angeles-based Indie/Chamber Pop ensemble Garretson & Gorodetsky.
Featuring singer Weba Garretson (The Eastside Sinfonietta) and guitarist Ralph Gorodetsky (Universal Congress Of,) the upbeat, haunting “Weight Of The World” was recorded at the renowned Hollywood studio Gold-Diggers Sound with producer/engineer Ed McEntee (Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Yoko Ono) and producer/mixer Mark Wheaton (Nels Cline, Ann Magnuson.) Band member (and first-call session man) Vince Meghrouni (Mike Watt, The BellRays) performed the swirling, hypnotic flute accompaniment while guest musician Jonathan Lea (Tall Poppy Syndrome, Dave Davies) added the groovin’ “spy film”-style baritone guitar to the recording. Weba and Ralph have been writing and performing with Vince, bassist Laura Grissom (Tune To Me) and drummer Brian Christopherson (Saccharine Trust) for the last year, creating songs containing angular elements of blues, soul and chamber pop.
“Weight Of The World” is the first of several singles that the group plans to release this year.

Weight of the World Lyrics
Hey now, can you hear me
talking ‘bout the weight of the world
Hey now, can you hear me
talking ‘bout the weight of the world
carrying the weight of the world
My mother carries me, I carry my mother
My brother carries me, I carry my brother
My lover, my friend, my enemy
everyone on this world I carry
Hey now, can you hear me
talking ‘bout the weight of the world
Hey now, can you hear me
talking ‘bout the weight of the world
carrying the weight of the world
My teacher carries me, I carry my teacher
My leader carries me, I carry my leader
My lover, my friend, my enemy
everyone on this world I carry
And you pretend
you only defend
only yourself
and no one else
Do you believe
that no one else sees
or feels your pain
or knows your sorrow?
Hey now, can you hear me
talking ‘bout the weight of the world
Hey now, can you hear me
talking ‘bout the weight of the world
carrying the weight of the world
Your mother carries you, you carry your mother
Your brother carries you, you carry your brother
Your lover, your friend, your enemy
everyone on this world you carry
Do you believe
that no one else sees
and feels your pain
or knows your sorrow?
